Cons - Introduction

Homeschooling is the practice of teaching children in the home as an alternative to attending a public or private elementary school or high school (Steven) “Many families in the past [and present] chose to put their children into homeschooling because they wanted more religion in their children's lives or they wanted to escape what some might consider the tyranny of the governments hand in school” (Sualny. par. 2). Across the United States about 1.5 million children are home schooled. (Lloyd par. 2) Homeschooling has been a traditional teaching method. In this system, teachers focused on a child’s talents and likes instead of adhering to the public and private school’s curriculum” (Steven).There are many aspects of homeschooling that families need to consider before making a decision about their children’s education. (Hernandez). Homeschooling is not beneficial because there are social boundaries, time commitment and financial restraints.
